Prevention is Better Than Cure

Proof of Concept

Aqua-Pro has demonstrated proof of concept through a series of wet-lab and field clinical studies:

  • Performance of Nile tilapia supplemented with GalPro® feed additives –2-year study carried out by Dr. Steven R. Craig and Dr. Ewen McLean of Virginia Technical University at the University aquaculture facility. Conclusions: GalPro® enhanced weight gain and feed efficiency ratio values when included in feeds for tilapia in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
  • The effect of probiotics on disease resistance of common carp (cyprinus carpio) - 2 months studty carried out at the Aqua-vet facility. Results: 60 days from the beginning of the cohabitation period, (last day of experiment), average % morbidity and mortality rate in control tanks was 19.6 %. Average % morbidity and mortality on Day 60 in treatment tanks was 10 %.
  • The effect of probiotics on treatment of ulcerative disease in koi - study conducted at the Gan–Shmuel Ornamental Fish Farm. Results: In the control pond, ulceration increased from 90% to 100%; in the treated pond, ulceration decreased from 90% to 28%.
  • The effect of GalPro® on health and disease eesistance of red tilapia aurea challenged with Gram (+) Streptococcus spp. and sub-optimal environmental conditions - study carried out over 90 days at the Aqua-Vet facility. Results: After 90 days, mortality was 27% in control groups, 13% in treated groups.
  • The effect of probiotics on disease resistance of red tilapia aurea - a field trial carried out at the Ein–Hamifratz super intensive culture facility. Results: decrease in utilization of antimicrobial compounds, production costs, environmental pollution, morbidity, clinical symptoms of bacterial disease,  mortality. Increase in safety to consumers and profit.
